Tea Craftsman's Work Place
This design is a self-empowering workplace structure for handcrafted Anji white tea producers. Located in the Anji white tea mountains, spanning 600 acres of tea fields, our research highlights the rapid growth and untapped potential of the Anji white tea industry. However, the industry’s focus on efficiency has overlooked tea artisans and traditional tea-making techniques. Yet, there are individuals striving to revive tea-making methods from the Northern Song Dynasty. These teas boast superior quality and prices, captivating an increasing number of enthusiasts with their exquisite craftsmanship and tea-drinking rituals. Unfortunately, the existing environments for this style of tea production are limited. As a solution, we offer a space for skilled handcrafted tea producers—a place that goes beyond conventional crowded workshops and factories. Here, tea production thrives alongside an experimental “laboratory,” showcasing the elegance of tea-making and inviting more people to discover the allure of Anji white tea. Therefore, our question regarding this design is: How can we create an empowering space for traditional handcrafted tea artisans? The entire building takes the form of a pyramid, determined by the continuous integration of traditional tea-making techniques.
